Novice "C" Strikes Gold at Provincials

The North Bay Novice ‘C’ rep team captured the gold medal at the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association provincial championship over the weekend in Toronto.

The provincial gold medal is the first for the North Bay & District Girls Hockey Association in the Novice division and the third provincial gold medal in the Association’s history.

The Ice Boltz capped off a remarkable season by going 5-0 at the provincials.

In the final game, the Ice Boltz met the Belmount Balzers in what turned out to be a back and forth game, with the Ice Boltz holding on for a 3-2 win to secure the gold.

The Ice Boltz topped 12 other teams to win the Novice ‘C’ division.

In round robin play, they opened with a 2-0 win over St. Mary’s Rock.

In their second game, the Ice Boltz defeated Belleville Bearcats 4-2. In their final round robin game, the Ice Boltz defeated Windsor Wildcats 8-1. The Ice Boltz captured first place in their pool and that set up a semi-final game against Flamborough Falcons winning 4-1.

The Novice Ice Boltz captured gold medals in all tournaments they participated in this year, including the NDHL Novice House Division Championship.
